Celebrating Service and Community: A Look Back at the Dallas Founder Lions Club Holiday Party
A Reflection on Connection and Service
As we stepped into the new year, the Dallas Founder Lions Club held one of its largest gatherings at our annual holiday party. This event underscored our commitment to service and community impact throughout the past year.
The evening was hosted by Carol Crabtree Donovan, our Programs Chair and a Lions Master Key recipient, recognizing her significant membership recruitment contributions to Lions International. The party took place in Downtown Dallas, near well-known sites such as the Record Grill and the red brick arches of the West End, making it both a central and memorable location for our celebration.
Our President, Nia MacKay, spoke to the group about our service achievements and membership growth during the year. These efforts have not only enhanced our local community but have also elevated our status within the global Lions community. Through initiatives like vision clinics, food drives, and youth programs, we have embodied the Lions' service-oriented mission.
This year's holiday party also supported a special cause—our winter clothing drive for the Vickery Park neighborhood's refugees. Thanks to the generosity of our members and the broader community, the drive was a substantial success, highlighting our collective spirit of giving.
Looking ahead to 2025, we are enthusiastic about further expanding our leadership and service activities. Our club meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month at El Centro College. We invite those interested in making a positive impact to join us. Whether it’s volunteering, participating in donation drives, or networking, there is a role for everyone who wishes to contribute.
The event was also graced by the presence of Dallas County Commissioner Dr. Elba Garcia, whose support for our club and the Dallas community has been tremendously beneficial. Her involvement exemplifies the strong partnerships we aim to foster.
As we embark on 2025, we reflect on the strength of our community and the impact of collaborative service. Our club has been a staple in Downtown Dallas since 1916, continually building on a legacy of service. The global efforts of Lions Clubs International inspire us to maintain our momentum.
We encourage everyone to start the year with a renewed sense of purpose by joining us at our next meeting. Let’s keep serving and leading with enthusiasm as we move through 2025. Here’s to a fulfilling 2025, filled with community service, kindness, and new opportunities. Happy New Year to all, and we look forward to welcoming new members into our Lions family!
