Bonton Farms Ambassador Nekka Wright to Speak at May 2 Dallas Founder Lions Club Meeting
A Shared Commitment to Hunger Relief, Health, and Community Growth in Dallas.
Looking for a meaningful way to give back, grow as a leader, or connect with others making a difference? The Dallas Founder Lions Club, a historic service organization rooted in over a century of civic leadership, invites you to our May 2 lunch meeting featuring a special guest from one of the most impactful local nonprofits in the region — Bonton Farms.
Bonton Farms: Growing More Than Food
Bonton Farms, located in South Dallas, is leading the way in urban agriculture, health education, and community-based economic development. What began as a few garden beds has grown into a full-scale farm with goats, chickens, a market, café, and wellness center. Their work addresses real needs in underserved communities — from hunger relief and nutrition education to employment pathways and environmental sustainability.
We are honored to welcome Lanekka “Nekka” Wright, Bonton’s Farms Ambassador and a member of its Development Team. Nekka will share her personal story of resilience and how the support of Bonton Farms helped her rebuild her life — a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact of community service.
Where Lions Causes Meet Local Action
The work of Bonton Farms closely aligns with the core causes of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organization:
Hunger: Bonton Farms fights food insecurity by growing and distributing fresh produce in a Dallas food desert — echoing Lions' global commitment to nutrition access and hunger relief initiatives.
Environment: Through sustainable agriculture and green space restoration, Bonton’s model supports Lions’ efforts in environmental sustainability.
Diabetes: Bonton Farms promotes healthy eating habits that aid in preventing diabetes, a top health cause for Lions Clubs worldwide.
Humanitarian Service: From housing support to job training, Bonton Farms exemplifies the Lion’s motto: “We Serve.”
Our shared missions demonstrate what’s possible when we combine globalservice values with local impact.
